Can I Ask My GP for a Vasectomy?

Dr Justin Low

Yes. However, you don’t need a GP referral to get a vasectomy with MSI. You can self-refer and book directly. However, your GP can still help by providing a referral or completing any relevant medical assessments to support you.

Self-Referral vs GP Referral

At MSI Vasectomy, no referral is required to book a consultation or procedure. That said, MSI supports GPs who do choose to refer patients and provide referral forms, templates, and resources for practices available on our website.

So while you can go straight to MSI, a GP referral may still be useful, especially if your GP wants to supply clinical or any additional information.

Benefits of Having Your GP Involved

  • Your GP knows your medical history and may flag any risks or contraindications.

You can ask your GP for a vasectomy referral, but you don’t have to, as MSI Vasectomy allows direct bookings without referral. If your GP does refer you or assist with investigations, that can only support the process.
