Considering having a vasectomy in Sydney? At MSI Vasectomy we only use the ‘no scalpel open ended’ technique, which decreases the chance of infection and uses our painless needle technique. We offer both IV sedation and local anaesthetic options. To learn more about the different models and their locations, please read below.

What is a vasectomy?

A vasectomy procedure is a permanent method of contraception that is designed for Sydney men who have decided not to have any, or any more children. It is a minor surgical procedure that involves separating the cut end of the tubes that move sperm from the testicles to the penis.

After treatment, the ejaculated semen will contain no sperm, as they are instead reabsorbed into the body through the tissue, instead of being integrated into the semen. This makes a vasectomy the most effective form of permanent contraception.

Our vasectomy services
at MSI in Sydney

MSI Vasectomy offers high-quality professional vasectomy services country-wide.

Open ended vasectomy

An open ended vasectomy only closes the upper part of the tube, leaving the end connected to the testicle completely open. As a result, the sperm are still released within the scrotum, but the volume is very small. This method allows the sperm to be naturally reabsorbed which means there is less chance of congestive epididymitis and other complications.

No scalpel vasectomy

A no scalpel vasectomy only requires a single small puncture in the skin and no stitches. We use a specially designed set of forceps which decreases the chance of infection and uses our painless needle technique.

Anaesthetic options

At MSI Sydney we provide a comprehensive service where both IV sedation (IV) and local anaesthetic (LA) are available. Our LA painless anaesthetic delivery technique means many patients report experiencing little to no pain when the local anaesthetic is injected.

Please read the IV Sedation (IV) versus Local Anaesthetic (LA) FAQ to learn more about these options.

Although a vasectomy should be considered irreversible when you’re deciding whether it’s right for you, an operation to reconnect the vas deferens is possible if you want to attempt to recover your fertility. However, a vasectomy reversal is very expensive, not normally covered by health insurance and doesn’t have a 100% success rate.

No, a vasectomy doesn’t affect the production of testosterone and so will not affect your sex drive, ability to get an erection or ejaculate semen.
